Royal Tales
Queens, Madams and Duchesses The Women Who Made History
The tour
An evocative guided itinerary dedicated to the great female figures of the Savoy dynasty: cultured, powerful, and often remarkably modern women who left a profound mark on the history, art, and culture of Turin.
Departing from the city centre, the guided tour begins in the magnificent Piazza San Carlo, the city’s elegant Baroque “living room,” where the figure of Maria Cristina of France comes to life. As the “Madama Reale,” she transformed Turin into a refined and cosmopolitan capital in the 17th century. A woman of great political intelligence and strong personality, Maria Cristina ruled with determination during a complex period, leaving an enduring imprint on both the city and the Savoy court.

The guided tour continues with a comfortable minibus transfer to the romantic Castello del Valentino, a splendid residence closely associated with Maria Cristina of France, who made it one of the symbolic places of Turin’s courtly life. Between elegant architecture and riverfront atmospheres along the Po, guests will discover stories and curiosities linked to the role of women in Savoyard politics and culture.
Next, still by minibus, we reach the refined Villa della Regina, for a guided visit through its magnificent interiors and enchanting gardens, discovering a hillside residence surrounded by greenery and linked to Ludovica of Savoy, a key figure of an elegant court devoted to arts, gardens, and beauty.
Along the route, a pleasant gourmet break at a historic Turin café offers the opportunity to taste the traditional Bicerin or a hot chocolate—symbols of the city’s aristocratic culture and conviviality.
An engaging journey through women’s stories, royal residences, and atmospheres of timeless elegance.
